The story of 172 LBS began when Santanu Sarmah and Sagorika Sarmah – both novel entrepreneurs, avid travelers, food connoisseurs and warm hosts – decided to give a concrete shape to their long-cherished dream by opening the doors of their world to the one outside, to create a place that would resonate with the vibrancy of guests from all around the globe.

Thus, in 2017, a part of the residence of was carefully restructured into a boutique guest house :that exuded a cozy warmth and luxuriant hospitality.

There are seven rooms in 172 LBS:  three Executive rooms, two Deluxe rooms and two Super-Deluxe/Family rooms; along with a shared lounge area, rooftop open-kitchen and dining & barbecue space.

Over the years, 172 LBS has welcomed and shared a wonderous glimpse of the incredible cultural and food heritage of Assam with hundreds of travelers from all over the world.

What makes us uniquely different is that we warmly welcome our guests as returning and future friends of the family, rather than as visitors.
